90% of the church served others

Redland Pentecostal Holiness Church had 172 people participate in their Faith in Action Sunday...

We are a church that would run 180 maximum on a given Sunday. Yet we had 172 people participate in our outreach to the community. Eight of those people were not from our church but they volunteered their time to help make it a success. We were able to help 14 homes from our local Senior Services. These people are unable to do some basic things for themselves. We changed light bulbs, repaired floors, washed windows, built a wheelchair ramp, did yard work and the list goes on. Another group had a beauty shop agree to let us bring in a group of ladies from a retirement home and cut their hair, give manicures and pedicures and feed them. We made homemade meals and took them to several shut-ins as well as fed our local EMT's. Our fellowship hall was open for people to help prepare 80 care packages and they were delivered to nursing homes, our local Teen Challenge, etc. We had a group go into our local Teen Pregnancy Care Center and sort clothes, put in a sliding glass window, and work on their prayer garden. Another group cleaned the Storehouse for Jesus, a local ministry that reaches out to people in need on a weekly basis. There was also a group sewing, decorating, and filling stockings with school supplies to send to Bill Wilson of Metro Ministries in NY. What blew me away more than anything was the willingness of our church family to participate. I was praying for 70 people and I knew this was going to be a big deal for our church to take the worship service outside of our normal Sunday morning meeting. Yet they just kept signing up and God provided a great problem, trying to figure out where to place all these workers! This day was truly a God thing and I'm so grateful to have such great volunteer leaders who poured their hearts into planning and making this day happen. To God be the glory!
